OpenPlant Modeler Help

Place Cantilevers

There are four basic modes of inserting cantilevers:

  1. Free Placement: The cantilever is placed freely anywhere in the model using the OPSE intelligent placement dialog. This is determined when you reject the option to select a pipe and the option to select a structural component.
  2. Placement along Pipe: The location of the cantilever is constrained by the centerline of the selected pipe. The length of the cantilever can be determined either by manually entering the length properties dialog (Input method) or by using the Stretch method, where you use the mouse during the placement process to stretch the cantilever to the desired length. This option is determined when you select a pipe to support, but reject the option to select a steel component.
  3. Placement on a Structural Item: Cantilevers are placed along connectors of the selected structural item. The length of the cantilever is determined by input in the properties dialog. This option is determined when you reject the option to select a pipe, but select a structural component.
  4. Placement between a Pipe and a Structural Item: The location of the cantilever is determined automatically based on the selected pipe and structural item, as well as by options set in the property dialog. This option is determined when you select both a pipe and structural component when prompted.
Note: OpenPlant Modeler components all share a common Properties Dialog .
